Clinical Approach

Dr. Speck is committed to helping those seeking positive change, peace or healing, and new skills. With evidence-based strategies, she guides individuals navigating depression, anxiety, and/or adjusting to life chapters (such as career burnout, the journey of aging, or relationship challenges). She collaborates with you to identify an effective treatment plan based on your strengths and goals. During your consultation, she provides a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space, and when appropriate, a little humor. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused, and strength-based modalities are at the foundation of clinical intervention.

  • Dr. Speck meets with adult individual clients. She provides a safe space that is validating of client diversity.

  • If you reside in Oregon but do not live locally (Bend, Oregon) or you simply prefer video visits, HIPAA compliant telehealth is available.

  • The benefits of movement on mood have been widely supported in the research. Inquire today if walk and talk therapy is right for you.

Behavioral Medicine

  • The American Medical Association has identified CBT-I as the gold star treatment for insomnia. Services can also include nightmare treatment if needed with evidence-based protocols.

  • Dr. Speck approaches weight management through a “Health at Every Size” approach which supports individuals finding sustainable and body positive ways to manage weight. Check out her blog for more information.

  • Dr. Speck worked in bariatric surgery centers and lead pre and post-operative surgery support groups. Individuals often seek support to mentally prepare for surgery, navigate barriers, and find a new normal after surgery.

  • Managing diabetes can be hard. Period. Dr. Speck joins you in the journey of highs and lows. Behavioral strategies can help ease the burden of diabetic management which can make a world of difference.

  • Whether it’s your first week or 30th year of managing a condition, it can often feel like navigating without a compass. Empathy, compassion, space to process, and evidence-based strategies can make this journey feel more tangible and empowering.

Behavioral medicine is the focus on treatment for mind and body. Dr. Speck worked in primary care and hospital settings throughout her career and has training in supporting treatment plans for medical diagnoses from a behavioral perspective.

At your request, services can include direct consultation with your primary care provider, specialist, or other members of your health care team to ensure a collaborative treatment plan.

Assessment

Pre-Surgical Evaluations

A pre-surgical psychological evaluation may be required by your health insurance or medical team for undergoing various surgical procedures.

 

  • Obtaining a pre-surgical psychological evaluation for bariatric surgery can be a helpful way to learn more about your own unique relationship to eating behavior and weight management. This process can also help identify areas to prepare for surgery and reinforce post-operative success.

Community

Organizational Education

Team member and community wellness is key in order to contribute to an effective, productive, and positive workplace. Dr. Speck can customize a presentation or workshop to your organization’s specific interests.

Examples of previous workshops include stress management, power of optimism, problem solving, behavior change and habit-forming strategies, adjusting to impact of COVID-19, and conflict resolution/de-escalation techniques.
